The cabinet meeting on Tuesday recommended envoys for 21 countries where Nepali missions had vacant leadership positions. Those recommended are Durga Bahadur Subedi (UK), Mahendra Bahadur Pandey (China), Dr Khadga KC (Japan), Ramesh Prasad Khanal (Germany), Lucky Sherpa (Australia), Yubnath Lamsal (Denmark), Ali Akbar Mikrani (Saudi Arabia), Dr Shibamaya Tumbahamphe (Israel), Yub Raj Karki (Republic of Korea), Khagendra Basnet (Bangladesh) and Dr Narad Nath Bhardwaj (Sri Lanka). Likewise, Niranjan Thapa (Russia), Padam Sundas (Bahrain), Bharat Bahadur Raymajhi (United Arab Emirates), Dr Mahendra Singh (Qatar), Jhamindra Prasad Aryal (Egypt), Sewa Adhikari Lamsal (Pakistan), Lok Bahadur Thapa (Belgium), Tara Prasd Pokhrel (Brazil), Rhishiram Ghimire (Myanmar) and Prakash Kumar Subedi (Austria) are others recommended for the ambassadors. The post of the Nepali ambassador for Oman is vacant now.Besides, the cabinet meeting also decided to observe Asoj 3 of the national calendar as the National Day, commemorating the promulgation of the new constitution. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held Tuesday at the Prime Minister’s official residence Baluwatar took the decision to this effect, according to Minister for Information and Communications and government Spokesperson Sherdhan Rai.
