Japan, May 16: The body of a Nepali migrant worker – who arrived in Japan seven years ago holding a cook visa – was found inside the Nagareya jungle of Chiwa, which is located 30 km from the capital, Tokyo.

The Chiwa police on Sunday confirmed the body to be of Budhi Bahadur Gurung, 37, of Dikur Pokhari – 6 of Pokhara after a long investigation based on the deceased's appearance and family certificates.

The police discovered Gurung's decomposing body on Thursday after he went out of contact three weeks ago. His body had decomposed to a state where an autopsy was difficult to carry out.

His body was found to have a deep scar in his neck after which a DNA test was held. The DNA test and autopsy indicated that Gurung had committed suicide. His body was subsequently handed over to his family members, police said.

The reason behind the apparent suicide still remains a mystery. Gurung, who has a son, a daughter and a wife, had been living with his wife in Ibaraki Prefecture. His wife had arrived in Japan recently. His children still live in Pokhara.

Gurung's body will be cremated on May 22 at 11 am at a local crematorium in Japan, it is learnt. RSS
